Hortensia Herrero Art Centre

The Hortensia Herrero Art Centre has become one of València’s great cultural landmarks and a must-see for anyone wishing to discover the city from a contemporary perspective. Housed in the historic Valeriola Palace, in the very heart of the old town, this unique venue offers a journey where art, architecture, history and heritage coexist in perfect harmony.

The collection brings together works by some of the most relevant national and international artists, such as Anselm Kiefer, Georg Baselitz, Anish Kapoor, Andreas Gursky, Mat Collishaw, Miquel Barceló, Jaume Plensa and Manolo Valdés, among others. Many of the pieces were created specifically for this building, establishing a unique dialogue with the spaces that house them and offering visitors an immersive artistic experience.

One of the centre’s great assets is the integration of important archaeological remains discovered during the restoration of the building, including vestiges of València’s Roman circus, a street of the old Jewish quarter, a medieval kiln and an Islamic fountain. A route where the legacy of València’s different historical periods converses with some of the most outstanding expressions of international contemporary art.

More than a museum, the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre represents a way of understanding culture as an experience. Its commitment to excellence, innovation and heritage conservation helps strengthen València’s position as an international destination for high-quality cultural tourism, able to offer exclusive proposals to travellers seeking authenticity, inspiration and emotion.
