Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, in collaboration with the Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies (Invat·tur), the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), Visit València and HOSBEC, has presented in València the second edition of the innovative ITH TechYRoom 2.0 project, an initiative that promotes sustainability and digitalisation in the hotel sector.

The presentation took place at Caro Hotel – Palacio Marqués de Caro, where this second “smart room” has been installed. The event was attended by the Regional Secretary for Tourism, José Manuel Camarero; the president of ITH and vice-president of HOSBEC, Javier García Cuenca; the managing director of Visit València, Tono Franco; and, on behalf of the hotel, Santiago Máñez.

This second smart room, following the first installed in Benidorm in December 2023, is a clear example of the sector’s commitment to a more efficient, responsible and innovative tourism model. In the words of José Manuel Camarero, “sustainability is a scalable investment that does not depend on the size of the company, but on its commitment to more responsible tourism.”

More than 20 technology companies have taken part in implementing solutions in this new TechYRoom, 40% of them based in the Region of Valencia. In fact, the participation of Valencian companies has grown by 23% compared with the first edition, reinforcing the potential of the local innovation ecosystem as a driver of transformation for the tourism industry.

ITH TechYRoom 2.0 expands the initial concept, which focused on the inside of a room, to include solutions across the entire hotel ecosystem: common areas, staff spaces and operational processes. This comprehensive approach responds to the objectives of the ITH SaveHotel programme, which promotes a model of tourism sustainability and continuous improvement supported by the Secretary of State for Tourism.

The Region of Valencia thus once again places itself at the forefront of tourism innovation, promoting initiatives that combine technology, sustainability and excellence in the visitor experience. This second smart room becomes a living laboratory where hoteliers and technology companies can develop, test and scale solutions that will shape the future of the sector.
